Malibu is a beachfront community in Los Angeles County, and as far as visitors are concerned, it's a part of greater Los Angeles. Given its high profile, it justifies its own page in any California website. The community has a population of approximately 12,500 (2010) that lives in close proximity to the 21-mile ribbon of Pacific coastline and usually within a few hundred yards of the Pacific Coast Highway that runs the length of the Malibu coastline.

The home of many people associated with the Los Angeles entertainment industry, Malibu is one of the most desirable addresses in Los Angeles.

The beaches of Malibu have stamped their indelible mark on the southern California culture. Hollywood has filmed beach scenes on Malibu's beaches for many years, the Beach Boys have immortalised them in song, TV weaves them into storylines and the beaches of Malibu almost single handedly introduced the bikini to American culture from its Australian roots.

At its heart, Malibu is about the beaches where visitors can enjoy sunbathing and all types of water sports. Surfing, sailing, jet skiing, fishing, boating, kayaking...... if it involves water, you can do it in Malibu. The balmy southern California climate allows people to enjoy the outdoors year round, and the beach and ocean for most of the year.

Zuma Beach attracts nearly 1 million visitors a year and other popular locations such as Pirate’s Cove, Paradise Cove and Surfrider Beach are celebrated in postcards and souvenirs. All the major beaches have public facilities with lifeguards on patrol and all of the beaches are close to places to eat and drink.

In addition to the wide range of fun and relaxation available on the beaches, Malibu offers her visitors many things to do. There is a lively arts scene, amazing restaurants with cosmopolitan menus for every taste and plenty of outdoor activity choices. National Parks and State Recreation areas provide a taste of the great outdoors with horse riding, hiking trails and panoramic views.

Add in Film Festivals, Arts Festivals, local community festivals and events, fine wineries and great dining...there is something for everyone to enjoy in Malibu.
